Dallas Mavericks assistant Alex Jensen accepted Utah’s offer to become the program’s next head coach, sources told Pete Thamel and Alex Borzello of ESPN.
Jensen played four seasons with the Utes from 1994-00 under Rick Majerus. A native of Utah, Jensen averaged 13.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in his senior campaign in 1999-00.
The 48-year-old will replace Craig Smith, who the Utes dismissed on Feb. 24.
