The Houston Texans are signing cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. to a three-year, $90-million extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Stingley’s deal includes $89 million guaranteed, Schefter adds. The contract makes him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history. He surpasses Jaycee Horn, who signed a deal that paid $25 million per year earlier in March.
The 23-year-old is coming off a tremendous season in which he secured a first-team All-Pro nomination. Stingley started all 17 games for the first time in his three-year career, racking up 18 passes defended and five interceptions.
