Inter Miami is close to finalizing a contract extension with Lionel Messi that would keep the Argentine star at the club through the opening of their new stadium, Miami Freedom Park, in 2026. Messi, who joined in July 2023, has a current deal ending in 2025. Talks are in advanced stages, with co-owner Jorge Mas optimistic an agreement will be reached within 60–90 days.
Messi has scored 42 goals and provided 21 assists in 48 games, helping Miami reach the Concacaf Champions Cup semi-finals and win the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield. The club hopes to see him lead the team at the revamped Club World Cup this summer and open the 25,000-seat Freedom Park next year.
