FC Barcelona is set to continue its trend of high-profile musical collaborations, announcing that American rapper Travis Scott will be the next global artist to appear on the club’s jersey during the upcoming El Clásico against Real Madrid on May 11, 2025. The match will take place at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys and marks another creative move by Spotify, the club’s main sponsor since 2022.
Travis Scott, one of the most influential names in music today, was selected over fellow global stars like Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. With over 68 million monthly listeners on Spotify, he ranks among the platform’s most streamed artists, trailing only behind names like The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, and Billie Eilish.
This appearance makes Scott the sixth international artist to feature on Barça’s jersey during a league clásico, following Drake, Rosalía, The Rolling Stones, Karol G, and Coldplay. Only Rosalía and Coldplay were considered good-luck charms, with Barcelona winning both matches in which their logos were featured.
The partnership with Travis Scott also renews the artist’s connection with Catalonia. In 2023, Scott collaborated with local castellers (human tower groups) during the filming of a music video for his album Utopia, showcasing the Castellers de Vilafranca performing a traditional “4 de 9 amb folre” at the Tarraco Arena Plaça in Tarragona. The shoot also included other local groups such as the Xiquets de Tarragona, Nois de la Torre, and Castellers de Mediona.
Scott’s career has been marked by both creative brilliance and controversy. Born in Houston, he comes from a family of soul and jazz musicians and was mentored by Kanye West. His breakout album Rodeo (2015) solidified his position in American hip-hop, and his critically acclaimed Astroworld (2018) included collaborations with major artists like Drake, The Weeknd, and Frank Ocean.
He also made headlines for his high-profile relationship with Kylie Jenner, with whom he shares two children. However, his career faced scrutiny following the tragic events of his 2021 Houston concert, where a crowd surge resulted in the deaths of ten fans.
As Barça continues to blend sport and culture, the Travis Scott collaboration promises to bring global attention to the May clásico—not just for the football, but for the fusion of music, art, and tradition.
