Jadon Sancho will leave Chelsea when his loan contract expires on June 30, as no agreement was reached to make his move permanent. Chelsea had an obligation to buy Sancho for up to £25 million, but a separate deal with the player was required and ultimately not finalized. As a result, Chelsea will pay a £5 million penalty for not completing the transfer.
Sancho, 25, joined Chelsea on loan from Manchester United last summer. During the season, he made significant contributions, scoring five goals and providing ten assists in 42 appearances, helping Chelsea secure a fourth-place Premier League finish and win the UEFA Conference League. Despite his impact, Chelsea and Sancho couldn’t agree on personal terms.
Sancho is now expected to explore opportunities in England and across Europe. Previously, he joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund for £85 million in 2021, after developing through the youth systems of Watford and Manchester City.
