The New York Knicks are expected to request permission to interview Dallas Mavericks bench boss Jason Kidd for their head coaching vacancy, sources told NBA insider Marc Stein.
The Knicks parted ways with Tom Thibodeau on Tuesday after their first Eastern Conference finals appearance in 25 years. New York reportedly believes a new voice will serve as the focus for the organization’s next step of winning a championship.
New York has yet to officially request to speak to Kidd, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon. Kidd has two years remaining on the contract extension he signed with the Mavs in 2024.
