Five-star offensive lineman Immanuel Iheanacho posted a clip on X during his weekend official visit to Oregon. It was a push-ups contest between himself and Ducks coach Dan Lanning, which the North Bethesda (Md.) Georgetown Prep standout said he won.
That is beside the point, though. What it did was illustrated something that the nation’s No. 22 player talked about throughout his recruitment — that Lanning, 39, was relatable and therefore someone he connected with better than other head coaches.
A lot of factors went into Iheanacho’s decision, including a significant revenue-sharing/NIL deal from the Ducks, but it was the overall feel that had Oregon atop Iheanacho’s list for much of the past seven months, and what led to his commitment. He announced it Thursday.
