The Milwaukee Brewers are close to signing shortstop Cooper Pratt, their No. 2 prospect, to an eight-year contract extension worth slightly more than $50 million, according to a report by Bob Nightengale of USA Today on March 30.
The Brewers have made no announcement.
Pratt, 21, had played just three games above the Class AA level prior to joining Class AAA Nashville late last week for its season-opening series. He’s hitting .267 with one run batted in.
