San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is considered day-to-day with a rib contusion after an MRI on the All-Star came back clean, sources told Prime Video’s Chris Haynes.
The Spurs officially listed Wembanyama as doubtful for Wednesday’s matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The 7-foot-4 big man must play 20 minutes in at least one of San Antonio’s remaining three regular-season contests to meet the 65-game minimum and maintain eligibility for end-of-season awards. The favorite for Defensive Player of the Year and an MVP candidate, Wembanyama has appeared in 63 regular-season games. However, the NBA Cup final loss to the New York Knicks on Dec. 16 also counts toward award eligibility despite not being recorded as a regular-season game.
