Joaquín Niemann received a two-stroke penalty for throwing his club during the first round of the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. Despite the setback, he rebounded with a 65 in the second round, putting him on the cut line. Niemann’s penalty was for “serious misconduct” under Rule 1.2b of the Rules of Golf.
