The Los Angeles Clippers are nearing a trade to send Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two first-round picks, one pick swap, and two second-rounders, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Leonard will soon engage with the Raptors on a contract extension, sources told Prime Video’s Chris Haynes.
The two-time Finals MVP is eligible to sign a two-year extension worth $124 million, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
Leonard sees the trade as an opportunity to retire in Toronto, Charania added. The 35-year-old reportedly preferred to stay with the Clippers, but the team wasn’t willing to offer him a long-term extension.
Leonard led the Raptors to their first and only NBA title during his lone campaign with the club in 2018-19.
