Star forward Mohamed Salah successfully converted a Panenka in the shootout, while Aussie defenders Harry Souttar – who took the first penalty – and Lucas Herrington missed with their efforts.
The team shooting first has now won just two of the last 14 World Cup penalty shootouts.
