2020 is coming to an end so it is time to put an end to my formula for this year. Several teams have had opt outs, transfers, and NFL declarations therefore changing the baseline talent on several rosters. No surprise for the 2nd year in a row the four playoff teams all have top 10 talent: Alabama (2), Ohio State (3), Clemson (4), and Notre Dame (9). The Big 12 champ was Oklahoma for the 6th time in a row and they also have a top 10 roster at (9). Even the PAC 12 with their wonky schedule had the two most talented teams play each other USC (12) and Oregon (13), with the later winning. Here is my final Team Talent Formula of 2020.
2020 Team Talent Formula
-6 points for the top 10 players per the 247 Composite a rating of (99.50 >)
-5 points for 5 star rated players (98.34 -99.5)
-4 points for players rated (97.5-98.33) in the composite (Top 50 Four star players)
-3 points for players rated 95.5-97.49 (Top 100 Four star players)
-2 points for players rated 92-95.49 (Top 200 Four star players)
-1 point for players rated 89-91.99 (subsequent Four star players)
-0.5 for players rated 87-88.99 (high Three stars, usually a Four star by a least one of the three recruiting services)
-2016 class average per player weighted at 20% + 2017 class average per player weighted at 60% + 2018 class average per player weighted at 80% + 2019 class average per player weighted at 95% + 2020 class average per player full weight)
Add the totals and that equals the baseline talent score
*I use the (2016-2019) 247 sports enrolled rankings for the most accurate roster per class data
