Jake Paul says he can “contend” with Canelo in three years

Posted on February 8, 2022February 8, 2022 by Santiago Leon

Jake Paul has stated that he is dead serious about wanting to fight undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer has a 5-0 record but has yet to come up against a professional boxer in his career, after Tommy Fury pulled out of their scheduled fight with an injury.

Paul was a guest on talkSport along with Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn who debated whether the American could one day become champion in the sport.

Paul who has beaten former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and former MMA athlete Ben Askren, argued his case to Hearn.

Paul said: ‘I think boxers are easier to fight than MMA fighters. They are more predictable and don’t hit as hard and they can’t take as big of a punch.’

Hearn responded: ‘I would disagree about not punching so hard. Partly with you, I don’t know if you’re serious or not. Like with fighting Canelo Alvarez.’

Paul hit back stating: ‘I’m being dead serious. On my mom’s life I’m being serious. That I can contend with him, three years from now.’
