Commissioner Jay Monahan is currently away from his position as he recovers from a medical situation, the PGA TOUR announced on Tuesday night.
“Jay Monahan informed the PGA TOUR’s policy board that he is recuperating from a medical situation,” the TOUR’s statement read. “The board fully supports Jay and appreciated everyone respecting his privacy. During Jay’s absence, Ron Price, chief operating officer, and Tyler Dennis, executive vice president & president, PGA TOUR, will lead the day-to-day operations of the PGA TOUR with the assistance of the great team Jay has built, ensuring seamless continuity. We will provide further updates as appropriate.”
It’s been a monumental week in Monahan’s tenure as commissioner after the 53-year-old appeared last Tuesday on CNBC alongside Saudi Public Investment Firm chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan to announce a deal with the owners of LIV Golf.
