Tom Kim absolutely torched that stretch at the Los Angeles Country Club, pouring in six birdies to post a 6-under 29. That tied the lowest nine-hole score in U.S. Open history, with Kim representing the fifth time it’s happened.
The two-time winner on the PGA TOUR flew out of the gates with some brilliant approach play, leading to a 4-footer for birdie on No. 1 and another from just over 3 feet on No. 3. Kim had a bit more work to do on No. 4, but he canned an 18-footer for another birdie to hit 3-under on the day.
