Arizona hiring Brent Brennan as next head coach

Arizona and San Jose State coach Brent Brennan have agreed to a five-year deal for him to replace Jedd Fisch, sources told ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Fisch departed to fill the vacancy at Washington created by Kalen DeBoer, who left to succeed legendary coach Nick Saban at Alabama. Brennan was a finalist for the Arizona job in 2020 when Fisch was hired.

Brennan spent the last seven seasons in charge of the Spartans, producing a 34-48 overall record. After earning only three combined wins in his first two years, the 50-year-old guided San Jose State to three winning campaigns in five seasons.

Brennan’s best year came in the shortened 2020 campaign, with the Wildcats finishing 7-1 and winning their first conference title since 1990. San Jose State ended 2023 with a 7-6 mark, including a loss to Coastal Carolina in the Hawaii Bowl.
