Mavs land D’Angelo Russell on 2-year, $13M deal

Free-agent guard D’Angelo Russell is joining the Dallas Mavericks on a two-year, $13-million contract, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The 29-year-old split 58 games last season between the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets, joining the latter as part of the December trade that sent Dorian Finney-Smith to Los Angeles.

Russell started in 26 of 29 appearances with the Nets, averaging 12.9 points, 5.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals. However, he shot a career-worst 39% from the floor on the season, including a 31.4% mark from deep despite shooting 40.6% on threes in the two seasons prior.
