The San Diego Padres star Manny Machado recorded his 2,000th major-league hit Monday with a fourth-inning single off Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen at Petco Park.
Machado also became just the 13th player ever to have at least 2,000 hits and 350 home runs before the end of their age-32 season, joining a group that includes some of the greatest hitters in baseball history.
