Matt Turner Set to Rejoin New England Revolution on Loan from Lyon in Stunning MLS Return

The New England Revolution are close to bringing U.S. national team goalkeeper Matt Turner back on loan from Lyon, according to reports. Turner recently joined Lyon from Nottingham Forest in a deal led by former club president John Textor. After Textor’s departure, Lyon looked to exit the arrangement but will instead proceed with the transfer and immediately loan Turner to New England.

Multiple MLS clubs were interested, but the Revs secured the deal. Turner, originally undrafted in 2016, became a standout for New England and later the USMNT’s starting goalkeeper at the 2022 World Cup. He’s now competing with Matt Freese and Zack Steffen for the starting spot in the upcoming World Cup.
