The Memphis Grizzlies have suspended Ja Morant for one game for conduct detrimental to the team, the club announced Saturday.
The suspension comes after Morant made controversial postgame comments following Friday’s loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Morant went 3-for-14 with eight points, seven assists, and one rebound over 31 minutes in the defeat.
When asked what the team could’ve done differently in the loss, Morant replied, “According to (the coaching staff), probably don’t play me, honestly. That’s basically what the message was after, so it’s cool.”
