Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn is taking responsibility for the serious elbow injury sustained by quarterback Jayden Daniels in the fourth quarter of a blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
“One hundred percent that’s on me,” Quinn said Monday, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.
Daniels dislocated his left, non-throwing elbow after getting tackled with 7:29 left in the contest and the Commanders trailing 38-7. It’s unclear when the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year will be available to return.
“I’ve been thinking about it, honestly, nonstop, too. I missed it,” Quinn said about the decision to leave Daniels on the field with the game already out of reach. “That was going to be the last drive for a couple of guys – Jayden, Zach (Ertz), Deebo (Samuel), (Laremy Tunsil).”
Quinn said in his postgame press conference Sunday that there was no discussion to pull Daniels from the matchup in the fourth quarter, according to JP Finlay of NBC4 Sports.
