Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul will retire at the end of the season, his 21st in the NBA, sources told Shams Charania of ESPN.
The 40-year-old appeared to hint this is his last season ahead of Saturday’s homecoming game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Paul returned to the Clippers this summer on a one-year, $3.6-million contract. The future Hall of Famer has played sparingly this season, averaging 2.5 points and 3.3 assists in 13.7 minutes across 10 appearances.
He spent the peak of his career in Los Angeles, earning six NBA All-Defensive first-team selections, five All-Star nods, five All-NBA selections, and a pair of top-five MVP finishes during his initial stint with the franchise.
