UFC welterweight prospect Michael Morales is widely listed as undefeated at 19-0, but the record database Tapology says that’s not fully accurate. Tapology found footage from a 2017 Ecuadorian reality-style MMA tournament (“Ultima Pelea”) showing Morales being knocked out in what they classify as a professional bout, not an exhibition like fights on The Ultimate Fighter in the U.S.
As a result, Tapology added one professional loss to Morales’ record—but also uncovered one additional professional win from the same source. Their conclusion: Morales is 20-1, not 19-0.
Despite the technical record change, Morales remains dominant in the UFC, going 7-0 in the Octagon with notable wins over Gilbert Burns and Sean Brady, and is still viewed as a leading welterweight contender and a potential challenger to champion Islam Makhachev.
