San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch confirmed Wednesday that wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk isn’t expected to stay with the team.
“It’s safe to say he has played his last snap with the 49ers,” Lynch said of Aiyuk, according to 95.7 The Game. “It’s an unfortunate situation that just went awry. I will look long and hard at what could have been done differently, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. This was a case where that happened.”
Aiyuk, 27, hasn’t played since suffering a torn ACL in October 2024, months after he signed a four-year, $120-million extension. San Francisco recently signaled that a split between the two sides was coming by reportedly voiding the guaranteed money on Aiyuk’s contract for 2026 after he failed to fulfill his contractual obligations.
