The Arizona Cardinals are looking to explore a potential trade involving quarterback Kyler Murray, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Murray is under contract through the 2028 season after signing a five-year, $230.5-million extension in 2022. He’s guaranteed $36.5 million next campaign, and another $19.5 million of his 2027 base salary becomes guaranteed if Murray is still on the Cardinals’ roster come March 15.
Arizona would take on a $54.7-million dead cap hit if it released him before June 1, and cutting Murray after that date would spread the dead money over two seasons. Trading the quarterback would yield the Cardinals $34.7 million in cap savings.
