JT Toppin poured in 31 points with 13 rebounds as No. 16 Texas Tech knocked off top-ranked Arizona 78-75 in overtime in Tucson on Saturday.
The win is the Red Raiders’ fourth of the year against a ranked opponent. Grant McCasland’s squad has also picked up victories against BYU (then No. 11), Houston (No. 6), and Duke (No. 3).
The program had not beaten a No. 1 team since a 65-62 win over Baylor in January 2022. Texas Tech’s last matchup against a top-ranked squad ended in a 30-point blowout loss to Purdue on Nov. 21.
