Michigan outmuscled UConn 69-63 Monday night to win the NCAA Tournament championship and claim the program’s first national title since 1989.
Elliot Cadeau paced Michigan with 19 points, while All-American forward Yaxel Lendeborg scored 13 points despite battling a knee injury.
Although the teams combined for a woeful 22% shooting performance from beyond the arc, the Wolverines dominated inside and connected on 25-of-28 free throws.
