The Philadelphia 76ers are sending Johni Broome to the Los Angeles Clippers as a necessary roster tweak following their free-agent deals with LeBron James and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday that the Sixers are trading Broome and a second-round draft pick to the Clippers in exchange for cash considerations. NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark confirmed the news. Jake Fischer reported the pick is “the second most favorable of the Sixers’ three seconds in 2027.”
The Sixers needed to remove a player from their roster in order to add James and Caldwell-Pope while staying under the first luxury tax apron. They are hard capped at the first apron because they’ve used the non-taxpayer mid-level exception.
