Miami quarterback Darian Mensah completed his first 24 passes against Wake Forest on Friday, setting records en route to a 33-20 win on the road.
Mensah went 20-for-20 in the first half, establishing a new Hurricanes record and a new ACC record for consecutive completions to begin a game. He finally threw his first incompletion in the third quarter on his 25th attempt of the night.
Mensah’s first incompletion snapped a string of 35 consecutive connections dating back to last week’s outing against Florida A&M, one shy of the FBS record set by East Carolina’s Dominique Davis in 2011.
