Hall of Fame linebacker and Penn State radio analyst Jack Ham was in stable condition after experiencing a medical emergency Saturday in Seattle, Nittany Lions coach Matt Campbell said after his team’s 28-25 win over Washington.
Ham, 77, was transported to University of Washington Medical Center, where he was being treated.
Campbell called it a “gut-wrenching day for Penn State football,” and said play-by-play announcer Steve Jones, Ham’s longtime radio broadcast partner, made a “heroic effort” in assisting Ham.
“If it’s not for Steve, what he did, I don’t know if we have as good a news as we do right now,” said Campbell, who also praised Washington athletic director Pat Chun and the Huskies’ staff for helping Ham.
