Folarin Balogun has withdrawn from the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) roster for the upcoming Concacaf Gold Cup due to an ankle injury. He joins Christian Pulisic, Antonee Robinson, and Yunus Musah as key players missing the tournament. Balogun will be replaced by Paxten Aaronson, who scored six goals for Utrecht last season while on loan from Frankfurt.
Additionally, DeJuan Jones (lower body injury) and Sean Zawadzki (knee) were also ruled out. Nathan Harriel and Walker Zimmerman, a 2022 World Cup starter, have been called up as replacements. Zimmerman now becomes the third-most experienced player in camp.
The USMNT will play two warm-up matches against Türkiye and Switzerland before starting Gold Cup group play on June 15 against Trinidad and Tobago, followed by matches against Haiti and Saudi Arabia.
