Novak Djokovic’s wait for No. 25 continues.
Carlos Alcaraz dispatched the decorated veteran in the US Open semifinals, winning in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-2 to reach the championship match at Flushing Meadows. The Spaniard, looking to capture his sixth Grand Slam title, will face either World No. 1 Jannik Sinner or Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in Sunday’s final.
Sinner and No. 2 Alcaraz have met in the last two major finals as they continue to separate themselves from the chasing pack in men’s tennis.
