The San Francisco Giants are finalizing a deal with Tennessee baseball coach Tony Vitello to make him the next manager of the team, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan and Pete Thamel.
Vitello will become the first person to jump from being a college baseball coach to an MLB manager without any big-league experience.
The 47-year-old started his managerial reign with the Volunteers in June 2017, leading the program to a College World Series championship in 2024.
