Arizona Diamondbacks star outfielder Corbin Carroll will undergo surgery Wednesday after breaking the hamate bone in his right hand, sources told Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Carroll won’t suit up for the United States during the World Baseball Classic in March, and his status for Opening Day is uncertain, according to Passan.
The 25-year-old suffered the injury during batting practice Tuesday, per Steve Gilbert of MLB.com.
