Geno Smith is reuniting with the New York Jets after nine seasons.
The Las Vegas Raiders are trading the veteran quarterback and a seventh-round pick to the Jets in exchange for a sixth-round selection, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Smith, who was expected to be released at the start of the new league year Wednesday, agreed to restructure his contract before the trade to New York, according to Schefter. The Jets will take on his deal at just over the veteran minimum salary, with the Raiders retaining most of it.
