The San Francisco 49ers are nearing a multi-year extension with star linebacker Fred Warner, sources told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Jennifer Lee Chan.
Warner’s new deal is expected to make him the league’s highest-paid inside linebacker, Chan reports. The four-time first-team All-Pro defender had two years remaining on his five-year, $95-million extension signed in 2021.
San Francisco’s front office has prioritized keeping its veteran core intact. Quarterback Brock Purdy signed a five-year, $265-million extension Friday. Tight end George Kittle agreed to terms on a four-year, $76.4-million contract in April.
