Lyon have agreed an €8 million fee with Nottingham Forest to sign U.S. national team goalkeeper Matt Turner, sources tell GIVEMESPORT.
The deal came together quickly, with Turner immediately giving the green light to join Lyon. He spent last season on loan with Crystal Palace.
Turner, 30, has 51 caps with the USMNT and remains the No. 1 just a year out from the World Cup co-hosted by the United States. He wanted to go somewhere with a better outlook for consistent playing time and hopes to find it in France, as Lyon’s current starter Lucas Perri has generated interest and is likely to leave this summer. The deal coming together so quickly could indicate the plan is for Perri to transfer elsewhere and Turner become the starter.
