Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen had nothing but praise for how new quarterback Daniel Jones performed during Colts mandatory minicamp this week.
“Very pleased with what we got right now,” Steichen told reporters Thursday, according to Mike Chappell of CBS 4. “He’s been doing a hell of a job. Really smart football player. Learned the offense very quickly, making really good decisions out there through OTAs. Obviously, we want to carry that over to training camp.”
He added, “Great command in the huddle. Ultimate pro.”
Indianapolis signed Jones to a one-year, $14-million deal in free agency this offseason. The club brought in the 28-year-old veteran as competition for former fourth overall pick Anthony Richardson for the starting QB job ahead of next season. Jones spent the first six years of his career with the New York Giants, going 22-44-1 as a starter.
