No. 7 Oregon held off No. 11 Wisconsin 28-27 to win its third straight trip to the Granddaddy of Them All.

Okay. Yeah, that was number six the number eight according to the playoff which is the only real ranking at the budget cloud? That’s correct. Anyway.Yeah, it’s a great game, actually, literally was a great game, you know, one point game that but actually, that was pretty tight. It was that it was probably the best ball game out. I Well, I mean, I was super stoked about the college football playoff game, but that was a terrible game. So the best game is content versatile. They want to say that, but probably the second best.

Got like this. It was a second highest viewed non college football playoff game since in the college football playoff era. So there’s only been one I forgot was game one. But it’s the second highest of all time. And how they built it up it was kind of funny. I know me and Justin violate talks about it in the chat. But it they built like, you know the college football playoff for like week and then you know they had those games and then and then they just the Rose Bowl for like three days I was surprised. I was like Why? Like, you know they are camping out outside the Rose Bowl and doing all the pregame stuff for other games and I’m like, wow, they’re really building this game up and they really did build the game up. I you know, it’s the Rose Bowl is the granddaddy of them all 100

on that of the road ball, and so they definitely built it up. It’s been this really big game and it was such expectation. It was a great game. If you would have told me the game went away, okay, if you would have just told me. This is how the game went and he would explain that

Wisconsin would have the ball for almost 40 minutes and Wisconsin would run 72 plays to Oregon 51. If it was talking sport, a special teams touchdown, if you would have told me all that I’ll be like Oregon law. But they didn’t lose. And one big caveat that was if you would have told me Wisconsin turned the ball over four times, three of the turnovers, learned their own territory. One of the turnovers was returned for a touchdown. And unlike G, Oregon destroyed them. So such a dichotomy or ironic game, I mean, Wisconsin’s control time possession but did all the turnovers. And Wisconsin had the special teams touchdown. It was just I think you play that game like 10 times and it wouldn’t go like that again. It was just just an odd how the game went was very odd, and basically just came down to which team would make the last Play, which team in the end would be the team to make the least number six and played it was not available mistakes and a big fumble in their own territory in the fourth quarter, and Oregon made last night. Just Harvard scored on a 30 yard damper in the fourth quarter, and that was the game. So it was it was a very interesting game. Like I said, if they put they played 10 times it would not go like that again.

You don’t think of them as running quarterback at all. And both of them in the Fiesta in the Rose Bowl. Basically, they didn’t pass a lot. They ran a lot.

Herbert had only 10 rushing touchdowns in the first 41 starts of his career. He turned into a big play ball carrier on a row. Sacco’s hallowed ground and Oregon and probably realized On its quarterbacks long legs to grind out a landmark victory under second year head coach Mark crystal ball herbers third coach in four years. What were your thoughts about herbers performance?

Tyler Turner
You know, like I said, it’s such a weird game, only 51 offensive play. He threw the ball 20 times. He had one bad pass that got intercepted. Other than that, you know, 14 for 20 not bad. He had three bad drops tied in on our camp for really did not play very well. He had a really bad drops, and any three rushing touchdowns I thought Justin Herbert played pretty well. I thought I just heard the last two games of the season played pretty well. I you know, I think at the end of the day, I don’t think there’s a couple things. I think he’s still inconsistent. He just as a consistent I followed him throughout his whole career, he could be consistent and that also, don’t The offices that Mario customer wants to run is that fairly the best system for her? He, he’s a guy that, you know, like really kind of easy passes and, and, you know,

keeps the ball like a more a less complex system, the more simplistic system, I think it would be, it’d be more beneficial in terms of just kind of said, Hey, use the abilities that you have, instead of kind of remainded scheme. I just don’t think it’s a great system for it, but I also think he’s inconsistent. I do think that just remember that time. You know, it’s a sack. I mean, there’s a couple times in the game where he took a sack that you’re like, throw the ball away, but he didn’t. He just took it back and, and there was a it was a late third early fourth quarter. They have the ball third and shorts at like, what’s god 35 they play They didn’t get it they didn’t get a first down goal for on like fourth and short like took a 10 yard back and it’s kind of stuff he does and then there’s also times where he’ll like go for five completions or even though their assumption where he basically I mean six foot six and he threw the ball alarm like I don’t even know how he could do that but but

when it came down to it he made a couple of really good plays and there was his legs I mean the three touchdowns on the ground and the game winning 30 yard touchdown and what Herbert is, is a great athlete. There’s all the end of the day tactical champions at the end of the day the Rose Bowl champion shall probably finished fourth or fifth and the final when the it’s all said and done, and you’re you’re a man it was a good year forever. Do I think he still hasn’t skeptics? Why nobody does when it comes to the NFL. Well, I know I mean, I follow them and there’s some skeptics.

That’s the positives. He’s another positive is his character is a 4.0 student. He’s really well liked by teammates and coaches. He’s well liked by the community is that even his story of Hollywood was like the hometown kid scores on that started his career with a foreign aid team played for three different coaches. which which actually, I’ve been reading an article while I was reading an article that Herbert typically I mean, Herbert has not have the typical quarterback personality. He’s a very introverted person.

And that’s not that’s, that’s actually that’s kind of a negative on him. Yeah. Okay. So the positive, your list three, four, positive Zoella, three, four negatives from the NFL scouting community. And even what I would say I would say it’s accurate three for policy. He’s a great athlete. He has every measurable you want a quarterback, six, six to 40 strong arm, mobile, everything. Okay? That’s a positive number two. He has great character. He’s a 4.1 student he won the Campbell award, which was for student athletes, football player that was the most outstanding in regards to academics and extra collect curricular activities. So he’s great character. That’s number two. Number three. I don’t know. So two, great, great measurables. Okay, great athlete, great measurables great character. Those are positives, the negatives. Number one, he’s inconsistent. Throughout all this career, he’s had times where he’s just been inconsistent. You saw that in the second half again. Auburn. You saw that in the Arizona State game. You saw that at times and games against Washington, Washington state where he will just either be inaccurate or he will have baffling turnovers or he will take sacks that puts his team is bad position. Or you’ll throw a hail mary at the end of the games through the end zone and not give anyone a chance. Those are the negatives of hermer. That’s number one, it consistent. Number two, he is not very, he’s very introverted to himself. And he’s kind of aloof. I mean, I remember was the during the Arizona State game, where there was a camera view of him on the sidelines completely away from the rest of his teammates. And it’s like, this is a game where they needed him. They needed him to step up and say, Hey, guys, we’re going to come back and win this, but he’s like way far away. The camera I was watching for the camera view and I remember I talked about it A slightly separate well that’s not going to be well liked in the NFL. NFL wants a guy that can lead they want the Tom Brady’s and the Aaron Rodgers the peyton manning the breath, you know the kids, his teammates riled up it gets in their faces, we can come back and win that. They want a little bit of that not some guy that like way awesome self. And there’s a leading by example and then there’s just being completely aloof. So that’s the negatives of at the end of the day, I think he will be. Well, I still think to leave. I know Justin doesn’t want to hear that. I still think to believe. I think like if I didn’t have the injury, I think two or three drafts first I think he’s just more consistent a better vocal leader I I think their draft to up before Herbert. But that injury for too small to fall and injured, injury prone. I think it goes before now I’m obviously For two adults come back in is completely irrelevant but I think Herbert take a second or third guy drafted it sounds like there’s going to be three or four guys that go in the first round. first trip will be Joe pearl you’ll go to the bangles and then I think you’ll be cover goes top Dad I don’t know where in the top 10 we’re on the charger second

Okay, well, that’s I actually think that chargers and this is our light and you know, we’re going to do a bunch of Graphic breakdown on that one of our things for our website Big Show Yes. All the early on, early on, I could totally see him on the Chargers West Coast kid, they need a quarterback. You know, I could see them like he could sit for a year maybe two behind philip rivers and kind of learn from them. Also rivers is very vocal for rivers and also very like kind of a conservative, like, you know, he’s married to seven kids and he and his kind of a straight laced guy, Herbert town like that, too. So like I could see them meshing well. And but rivers is very vocal and very strong personality and I could see him like really encouraging, pervert and really teaching him the ropes of how to be a professional quarterback. And he’s a West Coast kid to be not that far from where he’s from, you know, they just played in LA. They just played the Rose Bowl they played USC to play in LA Every single year at Oregon, I just think that’d be a perfect place for him to go. And I think the charges are going to maybe quarterback and I think they could say hey, this guy could sit for a year behind and out actually like if I start my second favorite teams the Packers is the Chargers

I have heard that why would they go draft Okay, so they’re going to get rid of rivers and go get a 43 year old quarterback still they could draft a quarterback today only be around for like two years correct? You think you can also possibly look at the lions drafted a quarterback? Because you’ve kind of been following all that. So yeah, I think he actually probably, you know, after a couple of bad performances where he might have been the reason like his Arizona State, I think Herbert was the reason why they lost again. Now the defense didn’t help and overall how the team played that game, but I’m Herbert was a major reason why they lost the game. So he needed to respond. He needed to respond by winning the PAC 12. You know, he gets compared to him a lot. I don’t think so. So I don’t actually a couple things. I actually think that more that take ownership kind of alpha personality is Josh Allen. Josh Allen is a little more of like that blue collar kind of guy and Harvard’s not I think where the comparisons are is the fact that the both six decks they both have very strong arms. They’re both good athletes morale is pretty good athlete. He by far tested the best at the combine the year he was coming out. But no personality very different. I think Alan’s a lot more vocal I think Alan’s a lot more of kind of a blue collar he’ll run you over kind of guy. I just think your athleticism Yeah. athletically. They’re very similar. I actually think Herbert might be a better athlete. I Gerber actually might be faster. I think he’s are ready to better I think he actually Ethan Allen might have a longer arm I No no, no I don’t know. People compare them all i know i don’t think it’s actually more accurate. That’s actually more accurate passer and a curse the better a little better athletes, but I think that Josh Allen has a little more of a blue collar tough personality.

year. Yep. The big thing was Oregon. I think Oregon achieve when I look back this Oregon season. And a lot of time Paul at Oregon. I think it was a successful season. I know we didn’t I know Oregon didn’t a college football playoff, but there are 12 into then won the PAC 12 they won the Rose Bowl. This program is definitely on the upward trajectory. And honestly, they were not going to beat LSU this year. And I’m the most competitive person probably want. If you meet someone, there’s very few people more competitive than me what they do at success I had worked with mostly because of my competitiveness. And I actually kind of glad they didn’t make the playoffs because they weren’t going to beat LSU this year. They couldn’t have done better than Oklahoma. Maybe very little, I mean, they would want and their last impression would have been getting beat pretty badly by LSU. Well, it said the Rose Bowl champion, and they have this riveted victory. And they have their this program on the rise. So to have top 15 talent that had a ton of studs, especially on the set. Oregon is is definitely one of the better brands now in football and I think do battle they want from the west coast. I think Oregon running backs Well, I think they’re gonna run for the future. And over the last decade, no one’s won more tactical titles. No one’s played more national titles, no other teams that have hyphens Trophy winner, and they’re just getting better. So USC, Washington, Utah, Stanford, good program, but your your Oregon baby right now.

into the next decade. And I think if anyone is going to be going to play off any team in the PAC 12 is going to be competing for national title it’s going to be

of course, of course the ducks finish off winning the PAC 12 against a I don’t want to say favorite Utah, but Utah had definitely had some momentum. But Oregon had the talent. And speaking about talent, what comes behind talent is is recruiting and early Signing Day happened on December 18. We could have had a chance to cover it because of because of because of business and Christmas. But Tyler, what were your thoughts about early Signing Day of 2019?

Tyler Turner
Well, this is a third year for early signing day, you know, that call recruiting really closely. It’s every year it’s gone up about 10% and it goes like 65% a guy sign. First year, the second year is like 75. And this year is like almost 85% of the PSA sign. So pretty much that takes over four fifths of the guys off the market. So if you don’t have your guys committed, good luck trying to find guys in the late signing period. If you want me to talk specifically about Oregon because that’s my game, Oregon. currently has the number 12 class, they have the number one class in the PAC 12. If it finishes that way, they’ll be it’ll be the third top 16 class in a row. It will be their second straight top Pac 12 class. I think you know, I do my team talent formula, filling it out right now. Oregon probably going to land in the 13 to 14 range nationally for talent on the roster next season. So that you know, top 15 that’s kind of where you want to be to really compete for that cause for playoffs. Oregon’s in a good spot. The three best players day landed three top 100 guys, all on.linebackers just flow out of California. Noah saw a younger brother, all American Outland Trophy winner pronate School out of Utah and that Dante Manny top 100 corner out of raytown for sure. And I think Oregon just continued on defense with it. Oregon just returning to defensive school. They had a top 15 defense this year and pretty much every statistical category. I think their top 10 next year, I think our top 10 defense nationally and by far the best defenses attack 12. I cover all recruiting so nationally, the number one right now has the best class. I think Georgia finishes with the best class like Georgia finishes with five star Keeley Ringo and five stars Zack Evans. So I actually think when all said and done Georgia will have the best class and I think going into next year, Georgia will have the most talented roster in college football. That being said, I don’t know I don’t think Kirby smart as white lived up to the vitality as this roster but Okay, we’ll give him another chance. Right. I had a great class they will be moving into the top five. And obviously that perhaps the best program in college football. Alabama’s sitting there number two right now they’re going to continue to have one of the more talented rosters in college football. I think number four is Ohio State. They’re going to continue and I’ll say Did I say probably more so than anyone else is going to lose the most players in the draft. They’ve already lost. Jake chase young that Jeffrey Oh Cody JK Dobbins, they might lose shape Shawn Wade. So they’re actually going to probably defensively at least take a little bit of a hit but there again, recruiting at extremely high level they have if you saw my last detail formula, Ohio State by the end of this year has the most talented roster college football. I don’t think they’ll be number one. come next year. They’ll probably be about three LSU who I think Wednesday Daddy, I think LC went to that as my production. think they’re number five right now. They’re going to stay in the top five I think as brave as arts to talent teams that didn’t do well. Well, okay, sorry. There’s a couple others that did well, Florida, Florida right now as the number seven class and Texas a&m as a number six. Both those teams have done a lot to really add talent to the roster. I expect them both to be top 10 ish. Talent next year. So look at Florida and Texas a&m and giving. I don’t trust Jimbo Fisher quite as much what he ended up doing it for to say kind of ran the program took last round and took off. And his first two years of text data haven’t been super impressive. But Dan Mullen I think he’s one of the best coaches in college football, and you now give him top 10 talent. If he can continue to get elite quarterback play from a very good quarterback play from a guy like Kyle Keep an eye on one of the greatest which is I think, Dad vohland. Now there is rumors he likes the NFL world will say about that was and then now who’s not who didn’t do well at all USC, USC currently has the number 79 ranked Wow. They have the worst class packs. Well, that’s a big drop. Um, and the thing is, there’s not enough guys to like, come back. I don’t think USC is going to finish with a top 50 class. And that’s just like crazy. According to my formula, USC of the fifth most talented roster this year, they won’t next year, next year, they’re going to definitely draw I think outside the top dad. And once some of these guys graduate, if they don’t turn this round one, Helton will get fired. I mean, I know they kept in this year, but eventually he’s gonna get cancer pretty well and the guy who takes over from the Don’t have a dearth of talent. So you as these like a program that’s not in a good trajectory. And Florida State it too bad What happened? You know, first Fisher last and then nothing bad things happened with Willie Taggart and now with FSU had a lot. They’ve had a lot of attrition. Several guys transferred out, you know early introduced to the draft and not very good recruiting class up to their standard last year and even this year. I think they’re really they were in my top 10 as far as talent and they’re the top 10 or the 247 talents that I look at four states probably going to drop out of the top 15 so they’re going to have one of the bigger drops. And Miami Miami is adding a lot of guys transfer. Man their class. Yeah, their class did not finish up to standard that they want too and look like there’s going to be I don’t think they’re going to finish strong. I feel bad I think baby has was over in over his head which of the job is roster management? Not very good. He has like 7075 75 at most maybe 70 guys on scholarship. He took too many transfers. I don’t know weird roster I got feeling it’s going to be three years and he has got to find itself maybe without a job.

Yeah. Good. Arizona State landed three top, top 103 other blue chip skill guys wide receivers are running back on signing day and I think we’re going to land lb punctually Shelton with the four star wide receiver Down at the all American game on Saturday, I think Arizona state’s going to finish with a top 45 class. I think they’re going to land the most top 50 players in California at anyone. So actually Arizona state’s doing pretty good. Kareem Edwards definitely has some momentum on its side. And there’s the least that perception that they’re doing well, and they also on the in the national Game of the Week against Oregon, they beat up they upset them. And so I like the directory of Arizona State. I like the directory of North Carolina. Mack Brown landed a top 20 class I think you could also Georgia Tech. Now one of the top guys that they signed died and committed suicide but they still top 25 ish class. Who’s another person who had a good class? Washington the Huskies, you know, of course Peterson last year. We like took over, they currently haven’t top 15 class, I would look at them to stay around that range and they’re probably going to have top 20 talent going into next year. I think it wasn’t great to Jacob piece and last because the rest of the quarterbacks are inexperienced and are like in that freshman range so I would probably say going into next year look for Oregon to be favored again, despite losing Herbert and for their starters on the offensive line. I think Oregon will be the favorite in the PAC 12. And, and the rest you can pretty likely go into next year, Oregon and Pac 12. And then pretty much you can you can already name the favorites and all the other conferences but the teams that really watch if you want my opinion, Pac 12 Arizona State they’re increasing their talent. ACC North Carolina. Oh, big 10 Nebraska. I know Nebraska didn’t have a good year, but they’re landing their third Straight top 25 class they have a top 20 class again, and I think eventually Scott Frost is too good a coach at this town is going to start playing up to it to a baseline and I looked for Nebraska, maybe underachieved this year at five and seven, look for them to be better next year. And I think they’re on the upward trajectory whether the record God or not. In the big 10 Okay, so big 10, Nebraska ACC North Carolina. sec. sec, Florida, Florida, Florida is the one is the team that, you know, think like Dan Mullen won 10 games and want to do your six game last year this year he won 11 games one new year’s game, and now they have top 10 talent. I think Florida is on the upswing, the big 12 I think the big 12 is not a good conference, and I think the one in five conference record set a lot And Oklahoma is the best team in the conference. And I think for the foreseeable future they’ll continue to be but you look at Oklahoma’s problem, it’s on defense and it’s

They’re not recruiting defensive guys very well.

Why is that? On purpose, so they just can’t get those guys.

So I think I just don’t think i think the culture it’s, it’s right now it’s wicked Riley, it’s an offensive school. And I think the defensive guys are like, Oh, I want to go to a team that plays good defense. True. And I just think I just think that’s how it’s going. And I don’t see Oklahoma, getting the defensive players necessary to compete against Alabama to compete against Clemson and agreed against Georgia this year. So I don’t want the directory of the of the big 12 because you know, you have Texas, the Texas kids this way under achieve their talent and No one else has top 25 talent and Baylor Matt rules of terrific oh geez done a great job. I think you leave go to the rule is good. I think he’s going yeah, you’re right. I think he’s loaded giant. I just think that conference is kind of not with a one trick pony in Oklahoma. Continue to win it. And I just don’t think anyone else that good conference oh I so I in the foreseeable future I have going to dominate Casey states boiler alert. You’re going to have a bunch of talented teams in sec. I think you’re gonna have to look at Georgia, Florida, Alabama and LSU in the big 10 head outdate the top pony but 10 state once again they have a top 15 class. You know they have really good defense this year and they bring a lot of those guys back. They I think they have real good playmakers at running back especially on offense and good one off of the line. Look for Penn State. If someone’s going to beat Ohio State next year, look at Penn State there and then call me a homer not I think Oregon is going to roll the pack. I think they’re only getting better. And I think they’re recruiting extremely well on defense. The only thing I’m a little worried about is you’re replacing, you know, a four year starter. I think Tyler shuk has the possibility to be good, but Dylan unknown I offensive coordinator took a head coaching job Marcus royal went to university. So I think the offense is a little bit of a question mark. I don’t think that the offense to two years under crystal ball has been great. I think it’s been decent. It’s been a tough, it’s been a tough 25 offensive top 25 and most glaring this year, but it’s not great. And I think oftentimes that is the thing you have to which is so weird, right? We think of Oregon you think awesome. But I I still like the director of the program. I think Chris was done a great job of getting the culture in place. He’s recruiting like a madman don’t agree. I actually think I think Oregon could be a team that’s in the playoffs several times the next year.

And a couple teams that might get into the top 25. And again, I haven’t done the numbers yet. Maybe Arizona State and maybe North Carolina interest. You don’t you can go from having a top 10 class to not even have a top 20 class within like, one day or within seconds. With a second. Yeah, I mean, you could you could lose two guys that were highly rated that really affect your score. And you could go from having a number nine class to having a number like 18 class in a matter of like, couple hours. Right?
