The NFL is looking at shaking up the scheduling if needed. A possible scenario is starting the season in late October and the Super Bowl will be in late February. And join us all the way from the outskirts of New York. Ryan, Krista, welcome to the sports cast.

Ryan Christa
And good, good to be talking. You know, even though in the near future, we don’t have much live sports to think about, but we got to start thinking about junk. Some light at the end of the tunnel. The suit

Santiago Leon
past weeks was about the last dance and NFL Draft. I think that fulfilled a little bit of what we were missing these past couple of weeks.

Ryan Christa
Well, it seems like because I mean, the viewership of the NFL draft was outstanding. Definitely more than usual. approves that people are kind of hungry for sports.

Santiago Leon
The next big thing for the NFL is scheduling the world. The season. Um, you know, there’s some reports where they may start on time, but there’s also some reports of starting in late October. There was an article yesterday about that. Ryan, what, what, what do you think’s gonna happen or just unpredictable as of right now? Oh,

Ryan Christa
I think you know, next month or so as they start to put in see how society reacts you know, and I think that’s where we go from so that you know, the NFL is being proactive and coming up with a couple different solutions. I mean, all solutions leave the NFL playing this year, I think that’s for sure. Unless something drastic happens the second wave of the virus but I think we’re definitely on pace to play, whether they’ll be you know, early September or early October we’ll see

Santiago Leon
if this happens if they do start off the season, as of late of, um, as of Thursday, October 15. It’ll be a NFL season with no by week or Pro Bowl. These are all the contingencies that the NFL has considered as the league moves forward with its plans to hold a regular full season, the league executives are trying to put themselves in the best position to fit in a full season, or at least a nearly full season, even if there are delays. So pretty much the NFL wants to have a 16 game per team and have said two weeks late no by weeks. Do you think that’s possible? And I mean, in football, I mean, we’re considering about you know, injuries rest, is that gonna be a big factor or

Ryan Christa
we thought about that? I think you know, they’re better offline. You know, everyone was that offline for jeans a two by weeks you know, especially me we don’t want the end of the season watching you know, backups planning, you know, as a playoff you want to see the best place for each team. I, I saw that it’s gonna be hard to you know, the players have, you know, They’re very vocal, you know, they’re not gonna like that. Like that because they want more games, more games more money, so, and that two sides are gonna be opposing each other,

Santiago Leon
which and all assumptions. I think that if there will be a preseason, they’ll probably happen in September and in early October, but I think will be closed out to the public. I think we’ll be, you know, played at a training camp somewhere.

Ryan Christa
You know, I’ve got to fall do you’re gonna be playing in stadiums? Are you gonna be, you know, if people are, you know, they’re gonna be playing empty. You know, I think you have to come up with, you know, as you make the schedule. And let’s say we start on time, you know, the first month, there’s no, no thing. Fans, you can’t be having a team to play, you know, three home games in September with no fans in on the rest of the season that they’re playing.

Santiago Leon
It makes Yeah, it’ll be pretty complex

Ryan Christa
because you gotta look out to the overseas games. You know, is worth the travel? No,

Santiago Leon
that’s canceled. There ain’t there ain’t gonna be a game in London at the Tottenham stadium.

Santiago Leon
And so schedule makers are in the process of designing a 2020 season that has several different wrinkles. When the schedule is released next month, it will look like a standard 1616 game 17 weeks late, but it will be designed to allow for several steps that could become necessary depending on the state of the pandemic, the 17 game regular season agree to in the new CBA into the effect with a 2021 season. So pretty much the NFL is gonna put out a schedule, but depending on what happens, they’re ready to shift it to pivot it. Um, you mentioned about empty stadiums and how much is necessary. disregard for people for like money revenue. I mean, vendors, would that affect like the player’s paycheck a bit?

Ryan Christa
I don’t think so. I mean, what should I remember the NFL money is based a lot on sponsorships and TV money. Yes. I’ve to get to know other things that come along with home games, but you know, they’re they would rather play a game in front of the fans because because at least they’ll get the TV money. What are you talking about? That’s all there is money is nothing like it. Nothing like it is for the NFL.

Santiago Leon
How about for TV? networks? How much would that affect them?

Ryan Christa
Ah, yeah, I think that’s big for them. They work hand in hand. You know, they get them. You know, they dish out the NFL is worse, but they’re getting more money. From sponsors, then it is the money that they’re dishing out. So you know, it’s a, it’s kind of a domino effect.

Santiago Leon
It’s interesting you say that because this kind of put me flashback when I first watched some CFL games a couple years ago. And it’s like the stadiums were half empty, but there was not much crowd noise. It was just you just heard like the players. I can see that for the NFL happening in the first couple months, at least.

Ryan Christa
Anything Yeah, that’s why we all kind of, it’s kind of this idea. You know, you just wanna one football, you know, you know, you won’t be able to go but you know, still be there and they’ll still be there to watch. So it’s important to get the players on the field.

Santiago Leon
And one version, this is the article by the sports Business Daily, they got the inside stuff with the NFL, which they’re meeting next week about this whole scheduling thing. So we’ll see what happens. It started the season could be delayed up to five weeks with relatively few adjustments. Such a scenario what has Superbowl Lv currently set for February 7 to 21 and Tampa Home of Tom Brady pushed back by three weeks. That’s not bad three weeks, it’s not bad. If that happened now, it could compete with with other big events that typically try to avoid Subbable Sunday. When I think about big events, I think about college basketball, Would you say that’s the main sport that you’re concerned with? Or the NBA All Star game?

Ryan Christa
Right now a lot more to kind of be jumbled here in the next couple of months, you know, NBA NHL, I’ll come back to like very, very busy.

Santiago Leon
Yeah, the Fall is gonna be pushed back. I think like Major League Baseball. I think I heard they want to play it all in Arizona, or have like a small tournament or something.

Ryan Christa
You know, you’ll have vision you know, 10 teen divisions, you know, In the division locally, instead of going across the country, limiting amount of travel, I think that’s what you’ll see.

Santiago Leon
The key part of this article two weeks of early season games could be shifted wholesale to the end of the season. A third week would feature teams only playing opponents with the same by week, so that we could be cut and byes eliminated league wide so we’re gonna have expectations with no by weeks. These contingency planning plans also include cutting the weekend between the conference championships and the Super Bowl, which is usually two weeks where the Pro Bowl is typically played to allow another week to be lost to delays. Under such a plan, the Pro Bowl would not be played. I always thought like the weeks between the conference championships and the Super Bowl, were like, way too long for to know can’t get quicker to the Super Bowl.

Santiago Leon
Yeah. And then when they move that, like out of Hawaii, I thought that was kind of like a mistake and they should have the Pro Bowl after the Super Bowl. I

Ryan Christa
really think that’s the one thing like slash NBA, cuz it’s fun to see the players showcase but I mean, you don’t get that same effect by the troll ball. It’s just you know, men running down the field not trying very hard

Santiago Leon
Ranga reception is a little bit loose so hopefully you’re able to fix it between now and the end of the show.

Ryan Christa
Oh, sorry. It’s okay.

Santiago Leon
Let’s move on to the better. Yeah, we’ll move on to the NFL draft the big weekend. A few surprises a few you know people like kind of new but obviously the look at it was were who were the who would the Miami Dolphins get and the LA chargers those were the two teams. People were eyeing it. It was the placeholder of the whole NFL Draft. Ryan, what were your thoughts about the NFL Draft?

Ryan Christa
Yeah, it was you know, like you said the drama, The drama. The drama who were tour is gonna go is you know, that’s kind of where the draft for it started you know, the first three picks but you know, it was you know, the Giants kind of started off the draft and number four by taking Andrew Thomas. We knew they’re gonna take a lineman but all eyes are on Miami Santiago.

Santiago Leon
Which wish wish the Miami Dolphins were rumored to get Isaiah Thomas first and if they trade out to the third spot or fourth,

Ryan Christa
yeah, I you know, I think they all want they wanted to uh, you know, and they’re going to do everything possible to make sure that you no joy was there man. I think there was there was the Pope. I think they really liked your borough and I made an attempt to go get him. But you know, the Bengals definitely were not trading to the dolphins for the first pick.

Santiago Leon
Just the Herbert made it to the six spot. There was rumors. Well, there’s actually a conversation yesterday on Monday that the LA chargers GM said if they if the dolphins would have picked Herbert, they would have selected to take a little bow

Ryan Christa
Yeah, no, I think you know, they do I wasn’t gonna fall below six I think.

Santiago Leon
Yeah, those that never happened.

Ryan Christa
And, you know, they both teams Yeah, I don’t know, too. I wasn’t be selected by you know, I don’t know how what you know what, you know if they were the target are able to get ahead of this offense they would have picked Justin Herbert with their pack but that’s that’s water under the bridge because what happened and the got the players they really wanted

Santiago Leon
let’s go to the team that Ryan was i&i night was the Denver Broncos. They got a couple of selections got about like eight or 10 I believe. Let’s go there first one Jerry Judy from Alabama. You’ve always wanted to write a receiver it came through and definitely want to type receivers in the draft. What are your thoughts?

Ryan Christa
No, I was super super happy you know. They’re gonna yell or whatever receiver they take. So the Raiders chose Henry Ruggs, I hate the Broncos were just ecstatic that they were going to play have that quality number 15 and have in a position they desperately need help that, you know, the Broncos only target on blocking.

Santiago Leon
They also got two other wide receivers like Kj handler from Penn State and also at the 250. Second pick tyreke Cleveland from Florida, which I think you’re very familiar with. What are your thoughts about that? Yeah.

Ryan Christa
I mean, I think you’re taking a flyer, anti reclaimer. And, you know, I think with the issue of for those wide receivers is that they had so much you know, they didn’t get on the field as much as they would normal positions and that saying that for three wide receivers drafted and addressed, which is crazy, you know, more morning and you know, any other team so

Ryan Christa
You know, dynamic player. That was another weapon and also getting a bird

Santiago Leon
bunam from Missouri tight end.

Ryan Christa
Yeah. You know, I mean that’s a terrible path. Gotcha. You know he’s not gonna help you in the run game so I mean that you know, so now you got Noah fan and him you know, the ability to attack the you know, the team’s team the tight end position. So, you know, really there’s no excuses for drew lock. He’s got Lindsey Melvin Gordon courtland Saul and Jerry Judy. paisa Hamlet. Hamilton, you know. Did you use the

Santiago Leon
right graphics at reception a little bit? Was it the phone?

Ryan Christa
that better?

Santiago Leon
Yeah, sounds better. For right now. Your mouth that’s the key.

Ryan Christa
Yeah, so you know do like have no kind of excuse right now for you know, being productive last season when

Santiago Leon
other players that the Broncos So yeah go ahead,

Ryan Christa
I think there’s there’s definitely a lot of pressure now on the Broncos to take it to the next level as long as our defense stays good, you know, I think last year you gotta remember that demons is awesome. No, was the only reason you know, they locked out. The defense was two and a half quarters most games and unfortunately they kind of you know, they’re gassed up because especially then when Joe Flacco is playing, they weren’t getting much help on and they lost, you know, through the first four games. You know, we’re in one possession games at the end of the game where they falter. So now, hopefully.

Santiago Leon
I think last year feels like you’re Denver field. Also, Broncos got cornerback at the 77th pick. Michael. Michael Hall, Jim moody from Iowa. Also guys centered Lloyd Cushing, Barry, at the 95th spot, a defensive lineman like Melvin a game from Arkansas. And just like Ryan mentioned going to

Ryan Christa
go ahead. Yeah, I think getting I was really stressed on boysenberry Yo, this guy. You know, I think, you know, we could have gone earlier in the third round, you know, I think there are some mobility issues, you know, he’s not as athletic. Yeah, I think he she wasn’t as awesome as he probably had a better season too. So, I mean, beginning a player of his caliber in the third round, you know, who probably will be they’re starting to Our city for years to come was a great steal also, you know, in game that, you know, the cornerback the guy, you know, it could be you know, Michael,

Santiago Leon
or Jim moody from Iowa.

Ryan Christa
Yeah, you know, had his moments, you know, I don’t think he’s a true lock on corner but you’re not going to get locked down corn in the third round. Surely you gotta take a guy with a good skill set. And that’s what they got there.

Santiago Leon
We think about metalman a game defensive lineman from Arkansas.

Ryan Christa
When I heard his name, you know, pre draft process, you know, it’s linked a couple of different teams. You know, I didn’t watch a lot of college football San Diego on Saturdays.

Santiago Leon
But the one of the worst teams in the sec though. Ryan, we lost you. You’re in Denver. Right? Right. Right. Would you say oh you’re still there? Okay, I thought I lost you okay so you were saying you don’t watch much Arkansas so you don’t know much about Mattel even a game

Ryan Christa
now when I say that but then when you watch the game you know I think he’s a good town and he’s got you know because he planned such that we came if you’re such a talented player he really is gonna stand out like that so i think you know again you know that’s more of a position of for the Broncos right now so that’s a nice luxury you know to have another quality player they can plug in right away I hate you know talking about the Broncos draft you know i think you know when you get off into the player thing needs a Jerry Judy Kj hammer, you’re gonna add your fans are gonna be more excited, you know, doesn’t mean they’re all gonna pan out. No, but you’re gonna win the draft on draft day by getting players like that. everybody’s excited. We can’t wait to see through law kind of deal with all these weapons. You know, we’ve won four out of Iraq game and to play pretty good. But you know, I think there was an explosiveness of the offense. So you know, now you put these players on the field and we expect it explosive we expect to score points you know, I think you know, we hit we know already good and it should be so good next year. A good team, as you know, we have a chance to 20 points twice. two games, we had no chance of winning. So the idea is if we can have a cheat the 20 points again next year, we should be able to score 23 points in that one. Right.

Santiago Leon
Ryan, I’ll have to restart this phone call because I because I think if we were started we’ll have a better reception. And the finishes show strong. Let me let me we call you. call you again. Sorry, guys. Sometimes the reception in Rochester is not the best time I have an iPhone eight, or a Samsung one. So we’ll see. This one does better. I’m here Ryan let’s see if this is better. Let’s finish off what else that like the Broncos guy they got Justin stron. He’s a linebacker at a weight 470 eighth pick a little bit and like the Lord like later rounds What have you heard about him?

Ryan Christa
Yeah, he’s versatile. He’s you know, he’s like, kind of like the you know the saint that we need to kind of hit your everyday linebacker in the NFL can when you get you know go late on Saturday you’re taking chances on players you know, these are players who are aren’t finished products or you gonna try to keep them on the roster. Hopefully they don’t play special teams. And you can develop them That’s how you know and I got to go back to tire too and this is a guy if you watch Florida football in the last two years, they play their starters on special team which a lot of teams and the phone calls do not do that. Especially you know, college you got 100 players on the roster. You know you You You might not use a lot here you know you don’t want to waste a lot of your good players energy playing soccer teams banana Florida it’s kind of a against the play special teams and he Tyree play that punt coverage last couple of years and he was always one of the first people to get down on the Get down and covering planning so that was one reason so you masters in general when you pick out like I said it you’re looking for players who can fill a special need and that means a lot of times with a special teams You know, that’s kind of the hidden yard is in a game maybe not what wins or loses games necessarily but it definitely is a factor. So I think that’s a lot what you seen you know, and while they stay in special teams and hopefully you can develop them enough that they can play on either

Santiago Leon
either the ball like the Buffalo Bills, GM, Bill Polian, one and three are flashy, or Ron wanted three but Gil, pick the players that will win the Super Bowl for you but rounds four through seven.

Ryan Christa
Yes. Well, I mean, well the building has been a jammer to build since I was about seven years is actually the GM of the bill when they won, not one, but got to the four Super Bowls and then also again was the architect that buildings.

Santiago Leon
He’s the one that got Jim Kelly.

Ryan Christa
I remember, you know, he got to look at you know, who we look at as a model example and Bill Belichick. This is a guy who typically loves a draft later and around guys, he likes to get good belly, he likes a guy’s a chip on my shoulder. And that’s what you get later. And you know, day three of our draft a lot of times you know, you got those hot those liners, you know, those guys that link around the jig when they’re going to get the time, you know, if you’re at a college football, a kind of sewer. You know, if you’re not into the draft, you know, you’re not going to recognize it. These names, you know, they’re not household names, you know, maybe especially their count, you know, a lot of times here, the last round are coming from schools that you know, you may not know much about, okay, until near the end the golden hour from our Liberty University, but I think it’s a heck of a football player, you know, but he didn’t go till day three, and I think the Redskins got a steal. Is he a finished product? No, he’s got a lot of, you know, he did, you know, need to use a lot of the skills in the NFL because he was just that, you know, athletic, you know, he was able to dominate players at first at the FCS level, and then all of the lower tier FBS teams. But yeah, so those are the kind of players you’re going to find on day three. Again, you know, if you paid you know, four players on day three, you’re probably hoping to keep them on your roster and you know, maybe you have one player, you know, from a practice to couple players on the practice squad. And also, you know, you got to look at who you like. Testing is out the undrafted, free agent. You know, the players are gonna fill out your training camp roster. Now. You may, you know, some years you’re gonna keep one player sometimes you’re not going to keep any players but, you know finding those diamonds in the rough, you know, for many years, the Broncos quarterback there’s a guy named Chris Harris had just left our team to go to the chargers. But you know, he spent 10 years for the Broncos. He is an undrafted player out of Kansas that I finally played alongside key to leave in Kansas all the all the all the headlines when the key to leave and he was saying early in the first round when he came out you know Chris Harris kind of was slept on it. He goes gifted kept on draft the contract of the Broncos and becomes a you know, has you know, I think you know, Marionette a Hall of Fame career but you know, when the top quarterbacks in Broncos history, so those of you know I get and I cannot find one every year, but you’re kind of hoping I guys you know, at least If you’re better during training camp, for sure guy, you’re your starters. And those are those are what you’re going to get out of, you know, day three, the draft. And

Santiago Leon
here’s the last. Yeah. Which we spoke about already. Technically, which you’re very familiar with. He’s He’s from Florida. This first like the last to

Ryan Christa
tie recruiting first time I heard this hiring season, you know, here’s a high draft highly, highly recruited, originally from Jacksonville, moved to Houston, you know, family, you know, had some family issues, you know, but he comes on campus before school even starts his freshman year. And he’s suspended for the first couple of games, as he got in trouble, you know, at the dorm before school, or this freshman here, and I’m thinking what in the head, you know, but then, you know, you know, if you ever fall behind his freshman year, you know, one of the worst seasons in Florida football history and had one of the most Hundred plays in Florida history and that’s what they call the heat decreasing, you know, he caught a 70 yard how Americans Tennessee. So that was kind of his, you know, thing for, you know, early on in his career. But you know, this is a guy who was recruited on speed polish, you know, football player, like I said, you know, playing special teams and all over the field. So that’s again, what we find in the, you know, the seventh day is like I said, I know a lot about this player, I saw how they developed character and leadership in a lot of those shares. You know, that’s what you get on the last day of draft, you know, we may not know their backstory, you know, they’re all hoping you know, they’re all going to work on it, work their butts off because they’re looking for that claim to fame. You know, you didn’t go to Alabama didn’t go to LSU. You didn’t play in the sec, or any power five conference. You got to work really hard to get your name out there. And that’s the kind of chip on the shoulder you

Santiago Leon
guys. The last two we have not mentioned detain Muti. He’s a guard from Fresno State. State an edge rusher Derrick Zack Scott from North Dakota State just like Ryan mentioned come from schools that no one really goes to play football at final thoughts on those two players,

Ryan Christa
you know that

Unknown Speaker
you don’t know anything about him.

Ryan Christa
I won’t be putting out too much. You know Norfolk State again isn’t that’s just part of how you get well coached up, you know, he you know, he’s got you know, probably good fundamentals. You know, I saw a little bit of tape, you know, and that he’s not a guy who his size is probably gonna, you know, really, you know, light up your TVs, you know, right um, but again, you know, a guy I think you can work really hard and good motor, he’s gonna work hard to drive and vaulting and you know, that’s why I’m gonna make it

Santiago Leon
Ryan you’re definitely under the snow and Rochester? Oh,

Ryan Christa
yeah, you’re fine.

Santiago Leon
And there you have it. The Broncos had a draft love a lot of a whole lot of NFL specialists were eyeing the Broncos because they had a lot of picks in this draft. And

Santiago Leon
Where would Ryan rate the Broncos in this draft, A through F.

Ryan Christa
I’m going to give it an A, because it has potential to be awesome. Again. Let’s see how we’re talking about right you know, when the season’s over how these who they kept, who made the roster and how do you know we might be getting we don’t know the whole history you know, you don’t know you’re only join us a team until a couple of years later. You know, it takes time. Like I said some of these players they didn’t draft. You might not hear him out the first year because you know, they’re playing special teams. Around the Mormons chances they have practical.

Santiago Leon
something to definitely look at. I really did like the Broncos draft this past year. I mean, this past weekend I think getting Jerry Judy was a huge pickup. And of course, getting another wide receiver like handler I’ve been hearing Ty Turner having some high remarks about that. And again, some more defensive stuff getting that tied in Alberg aka Bannon from from Missouri, I think it’s a good

Ryan Christa
picture and remember to you know, this is the guy that drew on each other.

Santiago Leon
So there’s a reason why they got it. Maybe just for that,

Ryan Christa
yeah. You know, it’s kind of like a luxury. I said, you know, we got some data, you know, and dancing or fat last year really in the draft was kind of one of those wrong. Really, they’re just you know,

Ryan Christa
Can you add another play like that? You know it adds depth to the to the 10 points around you know what have you done that much B but he’s got great hand Santiago body probably. So you know that that’s what we added that

Santiago Leon
definitely will put the Broncos in second place in the AFC West Raiders did not have the greatest draft. He had the greatest draft but we all know

Ryan Christa
making those picks.

Santiago Leon
Hey, I love it. I love how they do the insane. People were saying john Elway didn’t make these picks for the Broncos, you know.

Ryan Christa
Sounds like a little bit of Justin Riley there. That’s okay.

Santiago Leon
Making sure you heard the podcast yesterday. So you did. Yeah.

Ryan Christa
No, no john Elway has, you know, he’s had a checkered history as a GM with the Broncos. You know, start off great. You know AK he brought in Peyton Manning a great phrase and NFL history. And you know, and we had a lot of success right away. You know, going to Super Bowls, you know, and then Peyton Manning lost and we have been nothing more than an average football team and that’s being generous. Has graphic seven always, you know, panned out, you know, we’ve gone through quarterbacks he’s picked, you know, who aren’t I you know, not on the roster anymore. So

Santiago Leon
Ryan say something very good. He just gets off the line. Oh, no, he’s back. I hear you. You’re like a shark. You go attack you go back, like underwater then come back. Okay.

Ryan Christa
I’m in a good. I don’t really know what.

Santiago Leon
Who’s your provider? Metro PCs. Okay. I guess. springs back. I can tell you that.Okay, finish up. Some final thoughts on the Broncos draft 15 seconds. out the players I’m really excited for our offense, you know, as long as it stays where it is, like you said, a second place team right now a division where this could easily make the playoffs. I think we just want to be, you know, considered to be in the running.

Santiago Leon
The only thing the only thing is experienced, you’re like, this is gonna be his first full season. So there I had some doubts, but we’ll see.

Ryan Christa
Absolutely. That is not that’s not you know, to play football at the end of the season, when the games don’t matter. You’re gonna be coming in September when the seasons just starting. If it

Santiago Leon
starts in September, in October 15 on October 15.

Ryan Christa
Yeah. So it’s very, very different. We’ll see how he does the rigors of a football season, which I’m mapping. Yeah, you know, this could be john was shining light if he does work out because last year You know no I’m like you know tight end had moments now the other great moments but he had moment right to lock again good record didn’t really wasn’t flashy but they won game you know this you know, I think I’m able to take the next level and again I didn’t play it drafted you know it’s not gonna look good you know if God doesn’t pan out but you know CD lamb is outstanding for the Cowboys because we could have had cdls so a while we’ll be going into how these players do in regards to the players who passed up

Santiago Leon
a lot of question marks but Broncos are looking good young team

Ryan Christa
in your mind when Sunday afternoon and you’re taking a look at all 250 plus draft Tech’s who want to draft I would say the Baltimore Ravens,

Ryan Christa
absolutely San Diego best best run organization in the NFL right now. Baltimore, right I

Santiago Leon
would say maybe the second best team in the AFC first is Kansas City.

Ryan Christa
I think they’re one of the San Diego right now i know i know that she’s won the Super Bowl and I know Patrick but Lamar Jackson you know raining on a PDF but

Santiago Leon
can you win a playoff game finally neither one

Ryan Christa
takes time you know I just made as a team last year great and I think you look at our strides and then you look at what added this offseason they added in draft flashing is not necessary but they take the player the role that they drafted him was an excellent tech you know they did say they go pick up DJ Fluker you know he is prime, but he’s a pretty dang good pick up for this time of year. So, again, you know, I just think that’s just so well run that organization.

Santiago Leon
Well run it is well oiled machine we’ll see what happens. AFC, AFC West to be Pacific. We’re going towards the end of the show, give me a quick repack. A quick recap of your thoughts over the last dance episode one through four.

Ryan Christa
Behind the scenes, you know, it’s it’s kind of weird because you’re looking at a world where there’s this footage wanna, and there’s things that we know, are all mysteries because we live that, you know, this is this is an era, you know, where we didn’t have cell phone cameras and we didn’t have social media didn’t know what’s the time like, you know, when you go out to dinner, you know, now we know everything about everything. I was, you know, knock them, you know, 80s and 90s. There’s so much what went on that we just didn’t know we were only permitted I think a lot of stories that we’ve heard and to You know, what we saw was you know, the stories we heard especially as I thought this was about Dennis Rodman

Santiago Leon
yeah and how he went out for went to Vegas by himself, and Jordan how to get them in person and he found camera light right in there. And she was saying, you I mean, I don’t want to tell you what I was wearing at the time.

Ryan Christa
So, I mean, it’s interesting because you know, as a kid I remember Dennis Rodman as a Dennis Rodman that we saw for the bowls, but this guy, he was kind of a clean cut guy when he was at the pistons but other than playing for their knowledge. So there it is, that we’ve ever known and that he tried pistons, he was a bad boy.

Santiago Leon
He was no one really talks about it, but he was a key factor.

Ryan Christa
Or, you know,

Santiago Leon
he was, I mean, according to Isaiah Thomas, he was normal back then.

Ryan Christa
Yeah, he was normal. And then oh, you know, They tell the story about how he’s basically going to kill himself in the parking lot of the pistons arena, you know, and basically, he, this is how he reinvented himself, you know, he found this true south, you know, that’s kind of he was kind of the, you know, a 2020 version of life, you know, what we talked about in the media, you know, we, you know, portray people just be yourself, you know, and that’s why he was doing so that was interesting. The stories, you know, we’ve learned that you know, we may not have known, you know, and

Santiago Leon
Michael Wilpon knew about it, but he was not able. He was not allowed to report it.

Ryan Christa
Yeah, you know, yeah, like the player I think, you know, that, like the newspaper columnist knew all this stuff, but like you said, you know, and people, you but you just weren’t allowed to say that because they know, you know, I think you remember when Jordan came, you know, he came on the air The NBA was really fighting this image problem, you know, the the MP doesn’t have that problem now other than maybe being too soft. You know, we don’t know, what a totally different mean, you know, you look at the scores of the games, you know, the games are played in the 80s. And the 90s were,

Santiago Leon
you know, more physical, they were more physical back then. And you’re able to tackle people or ever, you know, shove people in, I guess I’ll for it.

Ryan Christa
Yeah, it’s just a totally different game, you know, very, very physical, nothing at all, because I think we talk a lot of stuff. It’s not, but it’s, uh, you know, games play, you know, the line is, you know, a lot is a much different tool than it is now than it was back then. You know, it really opens up the floor. Now players are on top of each other. So, you know, a lot more ability to drive the basket. I mean, it’s an interesting so how many people are going to say, you know, I was lying, Jane, you know, the guy is kind of an innocent victim here, you know,

Santiago Leon
different times. different times yeah

Ryan Christa
it’ll be interesting cuz I think LeBron really fit the game back then you know? Yeah, he’s he’s, you know, is he softer? I don’t know but he’s a fiddle player he’s you know i’m sure i being from Miami you saw you know several dozens of them in person man that guy you know I only seen one and I you know you see it on TV but you really yeah, I opened and see him up close and personal like how big of a man this guy is to have a you know, what’s the power he has? You know, I just would be interested in he did I think he would definitely pushed around a lot at Target.

Santiago Leon
Definitely. To look at really, really interested what’s gonna happen in next couple episodes this Sunday will be a little bit more, more. I’m a little more in depth about Steve curse. So we’ll have a Steve Kerr episode this weekend. I don’t know if they’re gonna do a little bit more More about grant. Horace grant

Ryan Christa
you know, I think there’s so much you know, like without Scotty you know, Jordan had a hard time you know, but there’s you know I don’t want to throw shade at these other players because they you know the Dennis Rodman the Luc Longley, the bill Cartwright, so Horace grant, he’s currently john Paxson. You know, also, you know, Tony cuca Well, I think what made them so special is that they were willing to be role player. You know, I think that’s the problem in the NBA now. Everybody wants to be known as, you know, the mass contract guy, the superstar you know, so, you know, you build the teams, you know what to superstar and then you got guys, you know, hard to find guys who are willing to be the other guy, you know, and I think that’s what kind of special about what the Warriors generate. You know, I really love that. as necessary when a guy was, you know, in their prime, I kind of like the words back when I was just last product.

Santiago Leon
But what we do? Yeah, before KB,

Ryan Christa
Draymond Green, you know. And then Kevin Duran is that they all kind of fit the role and they’re all happy about it, you know, and you were able to fill the roles are the Andrew Bogart and Andre Iguodala who are happily, you know, be. That’s what made the balls special, they found players who are happy to just be on a winning team. You know, that’s the problem. I think, you know, everybody wants to be the front headline, NBA and you know, it’s hard for teams to build these teams. You know, what guys who just want to be part of something special?

Santiago Leon
something to definitely look at, of course, Episode Three and four is this weekend is a 10 part series. And we’ll see what happens in the last dance. Ryan, Chris, so what is the best way to reach you? online to talk to you about your new member Jerry Judy.

Ryan Christa
Well hopefully next wherever I am at better cell phone coverage next time

Santiago Leon
give us a break

Ryan Christa
yeah I

Santiago Leon
was will give you a paycheck I think that could happen yeah.

Ryan Christa
mega on Twitter so yeah so I yeah, I’m really happy you know what the NFL Draft I think we’re good. I think I want to add one more thing before we go I don’t love the fact that one of my least favorite team here has always been for some dynasties and I think it goes back to the breath Bombay’s was the Green Bay Packers. Why? I think because I think there was always this rivalry between BB and Allah Who is the ultimate gun banger. So I always win. Always obviously been an hour So I really never really liked the Packers. I think we did you know, but I really don’t like to pick up Jordan love. And I noticed the same a same time as they’re not just that. Dennis prime. I don’t think he had, you know, when they knocked us out that, you know, when I was quarterback, there’s always a you know, I think fire was definitely showing signs of intent. You know, there’s always a coming back this year we’ve had that there’s no like I said no talk of Aaron Rodgers retired. So playing at a high level. I just think the first round that just sends a bad signal to the organization into the band that this isn’t an team anymore.

Santiago Leon
You think so?

Ryan Christa
I think I think you know, Jordan love being a Hall of Fame quarterback. Absolutely. But I think right now I think this is a theme that One game from the Super Bowl you got to do is fill some pieces in you got to get you know they got add to the often too late you know they need a couple weapons outside but there was never a time to go and pick a wide receiver this was this year I think we’ve got a guy in Jordan love you know the second round and I think that would have sent a deaf message you pick a guy on the first round you know the starter right now is looking over at that. You don’t want it you know you don’t want an angry Aaron Rodgers and I think that’s what they got on their hand right now. And I’m not saying I just don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that they have to move Aaron Rodgers if he just got more upset because I’m not saying it’s got to be a minute but they got some idea of you know, from a quarterback which I don’t think Aaron Rodgers is that type of guy. You know, I think he’s a Hall of Fame quarterback can be one of the top five ever. When a guy is not you know Gracious gracious person is always kind of been rough around the edges the teammates at times Hi. I just think it was a terrible

Santiago Leon
we’re gonna have you back again and talk about with the Packers It feels like you have a lot of emotion and a little bit more more in depth well, which we’ll have Tyler on tomorrow but but he’ll be talking more about Justin Herbert and of course we have Justin on as well talk about to go into Miami so should be should be quite interesting the whole situation with Green Bay and this was stories about Aaron Rodgers being traded but not really I think it’s just taking precaution. Hey, Georgia law that’s potential.

Ryan Christa
I think I think next week and you know, when we talk about may, or may I think we’re gonna have a better idea. We’re gonna have NBA basketball this year. Are we gonna have NHL hockey? I want to say this is my closing thought here. I really haven’t had this one. Now let’s just cancel the rest of the NBA season. This is coming from guy who loves NBA basketball, because

Santiago Leon
which, which is a big possibility could happen. I didn’t

Ryan Christa
like that but having a playoff tournament in Las Vegas for a month, but then basically what you’re saying is, you know, half your time all 32 teams that go live in Vegas not bring your families saying you know, play basketball, play basketball. That’s all they can do. Cuz you know,

Santiago Leon
Oh, so you’re saying finish the season in Vegas. All the teams go there. Or, or here’s my idea have a small playoffs, you know, Hey, take whoever was the top four on each conference, and just play it off. Yeah, just do the playoffs and do it in Vegas. Yeah.

Ryan Christa
Want is? Some really feel, you know,

Santiago Leon
yeah. I mean, Look, it’s just too soon to come back and play. I think the NFL has a better shot of having fans or having the league, you know, continue normal than an NBA season even baseball.

Ryan Christa
Because what you’re doing now, let’s say you’re in August, you know, July, August, you’re pushing back now you’re gonna have the NBA Draft, like, you know, later that, you know, whenever they’re done so you’re looking at late August, September. It’s just I think you’re putting in you’re probably not gonna start games until, you know, in November now that or December, and then you’re how you’re going to have a shortened season. You know, what, hey, look, whatever, you know, I mean, is that you have an asterick you know, no snow champion this year, that thing from Milwaukee Bucks or the favorite, the Los Angeles Lakers clippers, sure. But at this point, what are we hearing from waiting, you know, let’s just put an end to it. Let’s have a draft. One more time in June. Let’s gear up for next year I you know, I I this is you know, a season I’m gonna go for it but that’s just my my opinion right now

Santiago Leon
Your humble opinion and we’ll have right back. Maybe Friday maybe next week to come back finish off your emotions over the Packers and the NBA season. But you can follow us at the sports cast dotnet at the sports cast down net for the latest on twitter at the sports cast. One sports news is still going on leagues are still up in the air. But I do agree with Ryan I think MBA should counsel or have a small tournament just like the summer league anyways. We’ve got no more time left because we got to go out and pay some bills. Anyways, Ryan, Krista always a ledger, and I’ll see you soon.

Ryan Christa
All right. God bless everybody.
