Big 12 Announce Schedule
The Big 12 released its 2020 conference schedule on Wednesday morning. The nonconference matchups were not included in the schedule release, but those announcements could come in the near future as the season gets closer.
Big 12 will now start Sept. 26th
Oct. 10th Red River Showdown between Oklahoma–Texas football rivalry
KState will open its season Sept 12 against ArkansasState, which is one of the better non conference matchups in the Big 12.

Big 12 teams have committed to three COVID tests per week, according to Bowlsby. After positives, athletes tested for “EKG, troponin blood test, echocardiogram, and cardiac MRI.”
Big 12 officials says Nebraska would be welcomed back to conference with ‘open arms’
Shortly after the B1G made the decision to cancel fall sports this season, Nebraska released a joint statement which included, the president, chancellor, athletic director and head coach. The statement indicated that they were disappointed by the outcome and that they would continue to attempt to play football this fall.
Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports reported on Wednesday that a Big 12 official said the conference would welcome back Nebraska with “open arms.” Even though the Huskers left the league in 2011 chasing the dollar sign and joining the B1G, he said “nobody gives a shit.”

Ty what a day. What a day yesterday. I was I was kind of surprised. I think Justin and I last night were talking about it. And it kind of came out of the blue when the big 10 like, when they announced they were canceling the season.

Because, I mean, because the rumors started to come out a couple days prior that that’s the way they were waiting. And I guess those rumors are pretty accurate. Well, I wasn’t I wasn’t really surprised. I kind of thought they might delay it a little bit. Because of the pushback. The big 10 gave a lot of pushback. patchwall didn’t mean The bad thing about that is a fair and the good thing is they’re unified salt, or are unified in the least what they believe it to be. So the big 10 obviously did not seem unified on the head coaches guys like Jim Harbaugh Ryan day, You want to play? And that was not the case when it came to what the other side? Oh, yeah. Interesting. There’s a couple different ways to look at it. One is, we’ll actually if offseason does happen, and limited COVID operates in the big 12 finish their seat, then what will be the perception of the big 10 in the back wall? Um, now do I think that they could so I will say I’m gonna get to that later. We’re gonna do that later. I’ll just talk about three things. But anyway, to go back to my point. I think at that point, actually, I don’t know no I so I can add to this point. I think it obviously if it shows that COVID was didn’t have any outbreak, then the big 10 and Pac 12 actually would be forced pretty much in order to save any help with their program moving forward to play a sprint. In my opinion, if the SEC ACC and baseball go through, play their schedule, limited outbreaks and basically things go pretty good, then the PAC 12 and the big 10 would actually be forced to play the spring, they pretty much would have no choice due to the fact that they canceled players with a could possibly be in like to lose a year on the whole eligibility thing. roster management just the fact that they didn’t wait long enough they came to such a rash decision. They pretty much I believe would be forced to play which I don’t think it’s ideal. But if it was just those two conferences, I did think of the different areas that actually break pre season starting in like January and ending if season ridiculous. Take like thought that that can’t happen, you would not be able to play that call. But it was something like five or 16 seasons and then the big tall head champion played Pac 12. champion. And then I guess they have two national champions, the fall chat national champions spring national champions. So this year you have co national champions. It is possibly see the ball. And but I think literally be forced to the big 10 in the PAC 12. Yes, there was minimal hiccups with the season that ACC sec and big 12 decided to go through on now. I don’t know if that’s gonna happen. I’m thrilled it is contagious enough, is there’s enough skepticism towards long term effects. I have my doubts that the seasons go through the big 12 has already thought and said and rumored to be on the fence. I think there was as much as like incidences that cause some wysteria I think the factory Big 12 with parentheses into the spring. And then at that point, it leaves it on the ACC and sec. And I wonder if they would too. And then I think spring season is a lot less feasible. I just think there’s too many teams. I think at that point you can like basically for a spring season to happen. It has to be so few games, almost, I think you’d have to have like 12 minute quarters, you’d have to make a shorter, you’d have to have less games because you couldn’t play in the fall then it’s too violent sport. I played college football. I know. Don’t let some journalists I’ve never played Dave college football in his life tell you, I played college football, you cannot play 20 plus games. You there’d be so many injuries, and it would be so unsafe for student athletes. You could not use the argument that one second. You care about the health of student athletes, and then you put them out there to play 20 games that account but if you’re able to Have a small season and then you’d have to actually have a smaller fall. So I’d say it’s something like a five game regular season and a play off and maybe like one or two teams they get. And so the most you play seven, so five to seven games. And then in the fall, you do a conference only schedule, so 10 games, then you’re around that portion where you’ll play and you know, most teams would play 15 games and then the very most someone would play is like 18 or 19 games. And that is stretching it but it is possible. And I think the big 10 and the PAC 12 would have no choice but to do that. If the season goes through as planned for the SEC, ACC and the baseball.

If the spring season does happen, and I do agree what you’re saying I think if they do play spring ball, they’ll have to start in January. I don’t think they could have a full 10 game season. I think it’ll be like five games and maybe end in March or Or maybe in February or just go for two months because you got the combine and like the NFL combine is typically February Excuse me. The NFL draft is until like may so they’re gonna have to compromise somewhere and and what what NFL scouts think

yeah yeah it’s all about the NFL as much as it is because I think the guys who are high end our NFL draft picks I don’t think they’re gonna play in season. So like for instance, in a school Justin fields shot Wade, maybe like a Jeff at Hollins. On Ross a brown These are some of the guy better players and I’ve mentioned from the PAC 12 I do not believe that they will play in the spring season. I think they’re going to declare And I think that’s what’s gonna happen.

Which players from the big 10 or Pac 12? And or are like, at the edge where they need that one season to prove the NFL scouts? Can you name a few?

I mean, there’s a few. Yeah, there’s several. I mean, I mean, guys that are like would not get drafted.

No. Players. Like they will get drafted, but they want to get at a higher Well, I guess it doesn’t really matter if they get first or six rounds, I guess.

It doesn’t matter because you’re getting paid a lot.

A lot better starting salary. If you’re a first round pick that if you’re a sixth round, like it’s not even close. Um, it does. I mean, there’s so many things out there that that list is endless. You will need to know for the guys, but basically, if a guy is a bonafide first round pick the job infield, the pinays tools, um, guys like Shawn Wade’s guys like that. They’re gonna leave, they’re gonna go to the NFL. They’re not gonna play in the spring. So there’s that I do think the NFL would push back to that’s another thing. I think the NFL would push back the draft. So let’s say they there was I’m just gonna go hypothetical here because I feel like things are in flux. So let’s say absolute. It’s just impossible at this point. But hypothetical ACC sec, a big 12 play in the ball. And then that big 10 and Pac 12 play in the spring.

When do you Okay, like if it is not started? If the first game is after February 1, I don’t think is feasible. Like you see some of these journalists that don’t have any idea how Football works that are coming up with these 10 game seasons Tell me and then you’ll play moving back a month. end of September. They don’t know what they’re talking about. Like you could not

I mean, once you think a player needs to, you know, to rehab after a season.
Tyler Turner
Well, hypothetically, I’m just going to drop the the scenario you start camp January consult on Wednesday. Theoretically, sec ACC big tall goal as planned, there’s literally minimal to no outbreak. So then show that COVID is in the suit athletes being able to play for a season was not inhibited, then I would say that right then Pac 12 pretty much because they cancel competition through 2020. So, Pac 12, for instance, start camps in the first week of January. And then the first game is the end of January. Then they let’s just say they play five divisional games. And then they have the beginning of March, the conference championship. And then the winner of the conference championship player, the winner of the big 10 and the big 10. I think we’ll have to play one more game because there’s 14 teams in the big 10 if I’m not mistaken, and there is swells with a big platform. So I believe the victim would have played One more game. But let’s say the middle of March is the end of the season. So let’s say hypothetically that’s fair enough in wins the PAC 12 Pac 12. Ohio State was the big 10. They play for the quote unquote big 10 that Pac 12 National Championship in the middle of March. I think at that point, you would do a season just like this year, that was planned on the pre pre design on a revised schedule. And I think you would start fall camp at the end of August. And so that would give you five months, so you’d have five months. So once again, I believe that all the top players for Guinea, like Like I said, just to field a fool like a Parson at Fairview every jump and fallen guys like that. They all would not play in the spring. So then you’re just done. Yeah, that would be my plan. And I would move it to instead of 15 minute quarters out movements as well.

Yeah. So therefore, you’d be basically if you do 1212 times five equals 48 minutes. If you did what it basically would cut one extra game every five days. So you’d be taking off a basically an extra game worth of wear on the lottery.

yeah, basically, you play seven games. Let’s say we’re gonna play seven games, but then they really, really relate it to a normal season if you really played five and a half games. Now, hypothetically, then when so then would you turn around and do another season that plays like 1314 game, you still would be on like it when I start seeing a number of 20 plus games in a calendar year. It’s unrealistic. It’s unrealistic. the very most is something under 20. You can’t go over that.

Hypothetically, what if there was no spring football at all? Of course fall there’s no football, no spring, what ramifications would that be?
Tyler Turner
Well, I think ACC sec in big trouble end up having to cancel I do not think there’ll be any football is correct. I think they’ll just have to have disease to this 121. Obviously, everyone gets an extra year of eligibility. So it’s going to be kind of problematic for coaches. And I think you’d have to actually talk because right now there’s 85 scholarships limit, I think you’d have to bump it up to 100. Unfortunately, they’d have to bump it up and that might be for the seeable future, which would make it a lot more I think Eliza and deprogram. I think if that is that been the case and 2020 is completely wiped out with football, I believe a lot of volunteer they got the S programs will be done. I think smaller to our FCS program will be done. And I think smaller to your FPS non power five, a lot of them will slow down. Because I think what will have to happen is they’ll have to like increase the scholarship limit due to the fact that you guys are going to be coming in next year. And then you’ll have to carry over these extra guys that is really due to COVID. And I think they’ll end up ending a lot of programs which would be very unfortunate effect. So you’re actually asking my hope right now, I hope right now that the fall season happens for the other three. I hope there is limited outbreaks. Therefore the facts walls and the big 10 are absolutely forced to do a spring ball and then China will just add it next year, we’ll probably have to be a conference only schedule again, due to the fact that, you know, some TVs canceled some teams did and it’s just the way it is. And then, but still you have college football for the 2000 22,021. calendar year for for students, and also 2122. And I think that would be the least. So the least, I’m about last

year, the recruitment guy for the sports cast, how much of an effect will that be for recruitment?
Tyler Turner
Oh, wow, man, there’s a couple different ways to look at it. It could be really bad but a big Pat in the back wall actually doesn’t make any more bad because that’s exactly rockin it up when it comes to recruiting. But if the season goes on as planned, and it shows that the conference is on It made it easy for the south to say, Hey, we care about football, we want to get you to the next level, we’re and I just think that such as you give them an even more advantage. Now, if the fact sec and big 12 and end up running into issues and people get sick, then it actually could backfire upon them. And it could show that they didn’t care enough about people’s health and well being. They put them at risk. And then you just start seeing people save outwest and you can see people want to take tabs because they think that hey, they’re they’re more advanced there I guess they’ve used before the more progressive and they cared about student athletes more than the southern schools. So it could go a couple different ways. And then the other one is that there’s no hiccup, but then the big 10 tax wall, get the old Springer show off their stuff and then they seen it See, get the whole fall to show author. So there’s a few different ways that could go. I’m not sure right now. I really thought I could go. Yeah, I said it could go because backfire the big tennis tackle. It could backfire in the sec ACC big balls, or it could kind of be a watch. I don’t don’t I don’t know.

Yeah, it could be a whole lot of different scenarios could definitely look at I would have thought they should have went like what like the big 10 should have done is they should have postponed the start off date to September 26 and reevaluate throughout like the next, like upcoming weeks. How hard was that? I mean, that was not hard to do.

Yeah, the PAC 12 was all in for templates. I think like I think the big 10 is going to be One, like, once again, if a spring season happens, it’s going to be too big that I think the PAC 12 has really put the year. And if you need to look at the comments by the commissioner and stuff, they don’t say really all at the spring. But guess what if the big 10 says, Hey, we’re having to spring on a the PAC 12 at last stage is wanting to play time, their scores, which is fine, maybe they want to protest. Maybe that’s for the conference. But anyway, if they want to have any semblance of football in force, they would actually pretty much have no choice but to be spraying tic tac, and I seek the big test by as well, especially if it shows without any hiccups. Yeah, well, I kinda want them too deep down and I, I kind of do but I don’t know. I don’t know. Because if it starts going south, to literally, not figuratively, figuratively, not literally, down south going south, but if it’s not, you know, there starts to be cold cases. They’re just bad publicity. Because like I said, it could really backfire. If they just, well, who cares it, then the whole narrative that all they do is care about money and care about football will really kick I yeah, I don’t know. I think SEC is gonna hold the line there. They’re gonna continue I think they’re gonna have no fans. They’re gonna have to put strict protocols on these players live in pods, get tested every week or so. And maybe cut down the staff who goes on the field if they want this to continue to you. So you think sec holds the line no matter what happens? No, nothing do they hold the line? I’ve been saying I’ve been saying it for the past month. They’re gonna do it. I know the sec I feel their heartbeat. I think they’re gonna stick with it and I’m and I’m gonna go out on a limb, big 12 we’ll do the same ACC I’m not 100% Sure.

I either want to in the fall and three in the spring in the fall into the spring which is split football I want, I want the whole season cancel dance off. I either want and I would rather watch football for personally on a personal narrative. So I hope that it cuz I believe all goes through they those guys no matter the risk that it is on student athlete will have to do some kind of modified spring, spring football. Those are toys. I really believe that because if they punt, it’s I mean, they’ll have players eligibility will not be uniform. So you’ll have guys that lose eligibility. And you have normal rosters in like the SEC ACC if they call and then you have these rules. Like, I mean, the focus will be destroyed in the skit, not financially roster management, all that the big 10 and tags will still be destroyed. So they can’t, if it goes through, they have no choice. I’m surprised people are saying that more, they will have no choice with planes. But if ACC as these, the big 12, all of a sudden decides to postpone, I believe everyone will just cancel for the 2020 21 calendar year. And then what will happen, as I previously stated, is you’re going to have probably like, roster limits, expanded and aligning a lot of programs will go on there and that will be unfortunate. So for the hope of everyone be able to play football moving forward, and to be the least financial ramifications. was my next one. Do you think now they’re like things a little bit fractured. There’s no nannies for this year. We’re in the springtime. Now that you know there’s two conferences of potentially gonna play in the spring, do you think the national championship is too long for this fall?

I think I think it’ll be split because I think season finishes then they’ll have to do that in the spring and then therefore, I think they’ll be a split so I’ll see. So you know, it says college football national champion every year it says 9899 so 2000 2000, whoever it is, well back in the 90s, the 80s and 70s. They hit split national champion. Washington and Miami share the national champion. pitchipoo 91 by Michigan, Nebraska shared at 97. Actually in 2004, or three at least it was USC and LSU shared. So I believe that there’s just to have a share of a let’s say hypothetically, three conferences play Ay, ay ay. If you’re going to go on in Atlanta, I’ll go out on a limb and I hope I’m right. I think the big 12 cancel. I think the SEC in the ACC goes through. I think sec and ACC have a national champion and then I think the big 12 Pac 12 and the big 10 have a national champion it’s just the goal is just jumped off the golf

Well, yeah, the wall the reason why I think I actually think Ohio State would get really hurt. Because I don’t think any of their best players will play. So I you know, when you’re losing Justin fields and Shawn Wade and Wyatt Davis, Josh Meyers I just think you’re losing. Even though they have tons of talent. I think they’ll lose so many good players that actually I don’t think that he has good spring.

The big 12 released their schedule this morning, as we spoke about before. important dates that they announced October 10 is the Red River showdown between Oklahoma and Texas is a football rivalry. Kansas State we’ll open it steel season on September 12 against Arkansas State. The big toll championship is scheduled on December 12. At Cowboys Stadium at&t Stadium in Arlington, December 19. And a big 12 teams have committed to three COVID tests per week. And after and after positives athletes are tested. For akj troponin blood test, echocardiogram and cardiac MRI. So they’re testing three times a week at the big 12. That’s pretty good. Smart. Any thoughts about that? Good.

It’s open yet. Each team will have one non conference game. Nothing scheduled yet. Probably in a few weeks. So a lot of teams probably like liberty or no not liberty, I’m sorry. out there are vying for like that game because each game could help that school for like $2 million or so. I don’t know. It just really depends. Um, yeah.

The rivalry of Oklahoma and Nebraska is one of the longest live was one of the longest rivalries in college football. They live in big 12 country kind of I mean, they’re, they’re Kansas and Kansas, Kansas State. And then you got all the Oklahoma and all those. So yeah, I Not only think that it could happen, I think I actually think it might happen. Yeah, I do.
