The New Orleans Pelicans have decided to move on from coach Stan Van Gundy after one season with the team, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski and Andrew Lopez of ESPN.
The Pelicans finished 11th in the West with a record of 31-41 during the 2020-21 season to miss the playoffs and the Play-In Tournament.
Van Gundy joined the franchise last October with big plans to build around All-Stars Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. But injuries derailed any chance for consistency during the season, and the Pelicans were unable to find a rhythm.
