Tennessee must vacate all 11 wins from its 2019 and 2020 seasons under former football coach Jeremy Pruitt, school officials told ESPN’s Chris Low.
The punishment, handed down by the NCAA, stems from recruiting issues during Pruitt’s three-year tenure. On Friday, the NCAA fined the Volunteers $8 million and released a report outlining more than 200 infractions during Pruitt’s stint. The report states the school committed 18 Level I violations, most of which involved recruiting infringements and direct payments to athletes and their families.
The Volunteers escaped a postseason punishment but were placed on a five-year probation. According to Low, that includes the reduction of 28 scholarships.
