Naoya Inoue delivered a dominating technical knockout win in the eighth round over Stephen Fulton to win the WBC and WBO junior featherweight titles and become a four-division world champion Tuesday in Japan.
Inoue outboxed Fulton – who entered the bout as the supposedly superior boxer – with a devastating stab jab to the body mixed with an up jab to draw blood early in the fight.
Fulton had a difficult time gauging distance against Inoue, who landed heavy shots when “Scooter” moved forward. Inoue entered the eighth round seemingly ahead on all scorecards due to a higher workload and punches landed count before knocking out Fulton, who lost the first fight of his career.
