The New York Mets and Texas Rangers have agreed on a trade involving right-hander Max Scherzer, which is pending approval from the ace, reports the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Scherzer is in the midst of his worst campaign in more than a decade, authoring a 4.01 ERA and career-worst 4.73 FIP in 19 starts while earning $43.3 million. The veteran hurler is also tied for the most home runs allowed in the National League.
“Mad Max” is still striking out hitters at a high rate, with his 10.1 K/9 ranking eighth among NL starters.
