Michigan State is terminating head coach Mel Tucker’s contract for cause, the school announced Monday, according to Detroit Free Press’ Chris Solari.
“The (termination) notice provides Tucker with seven calendar days to respond and present reasons to me and the interim president as to why he should not be terminated for cause,” Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller said in a statement.
The news comes eight days after the Spartans suspended Tucker without pay. The 51-year-old, who’s in the third season of a 10-year, $95-million extension signed in November 2021, is the subject of an ongoing university sexual harassment investigation.
