Bobby Green dropped Grant Dawson with a straight left punch just seconds into the fight and then polished him off with ground-and-pound shots, finishing the No. 10-ranked lightweight at the 0:33 mark of the first round. It was Green’s second UFC main event.
“I thought I hit him with a right hand. It’s a left? OK,” Green said in his postfight interview. “Shit happens. Let’s go.”
Green has now won two in a row after beating former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson by third-round submission at UFC 291 in July. The 37-year-old bounced back after going 1-2 in 2022.
