Ryan Garcia failed to make weight for Saturday’s anticipated title fight against Devin Haney.
Garcia reportedly tipped the scales at 143.2 pounds, more than three pounds over the 140-pound limit, according to journalist Dan Rafael.
Golden Boy Promotions said the sides reached a deal for the fight to proceed as planned Saturday, according to Brian Campbell of CBS Sports. However, Garcia will be ineligible to claim Haney’s WBC junior welterweight belt if he wins.
Because Garcia missed weight by such a large amount, there will be no additional pre-fight weight check on Saturday, sources told Rafael.
