UConn announced Monday it agreed to a new six-year, $50-million contract with head coach Dan Hurley that’ll tie him to the school through 2029-30
Hurley signed a six-year extension with the school worth $32.1 million last year after winning the first of UConn’s back-to-back national titles. His new contract overwrites the prior agreement, increasing his base salary to $400,000 annually and offering performance-based incentives.
The agreement between the sides caps off a whirlwind summer of negotiations for the back-to-back national champion bench boss, who turned down a lucrative offer in June to coach the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers reportedly entered a bid of around $70 million over six years to hire Hurley.
